This is a full reissuing of the 60 hand-coloured aquatint plates by I.C. Stadler, after drawings by Smith, originally produced in 1815 for the oldest commercial art gallery in the world, Colnaghi and Co. Paul Colnaghi became the official print-seller to the Prince Regent, and he was asked to organise the Royal Collection, receiving a Royal Warrant when the Prince Regent became George IV. Uniquely, many of Smith’s uncoloured original drawings are also included in this “Guide to Military Art” edition. With expert commentary from the late Ray Westlake.
